Equal Pay for Equal Work: Closing the Gender Pay Gap |
Content |
Description: Despite progress in gender equality, women in Europe still face a significant pay gap compared to men. On average, women earn 14.1% less than men in the EU, and the gap is even wider for women with children and women in certain professions. This ECI aims to close the gender pay gap by calling for measures such as:
- Requiring companies to publish their gender pay gap data and develop action plans to address any disparities.
- Strengthening enforcement mechanisms to ensure that employers who discriminate on the basis of gender are held accountable.
- Increasing investment in education and training programs to promote gender equality in the workplace.
- Encouraging flexible work arrangements, including telecommuting, part-time work, and job-sharing, to help women balance work and family responsibilities.
- Promoting equal opportunities for women in leadership positions and encouraging more women to pursue careers in traditionally male-dominated fields.
The goal of this ECI is to raise awareness about the gender pay gap and mobilize public support for policies that promote gender equality in the workplace. By closing the gender pay gap, we can ensure that women are valued and compensated fairly for their contributions to society, and help create a more just and equal Europe for all. |
